the first emo kid?

Did you know the lyrics for "Suicide is Painless" were written by Robert Altman's (the director of the MASH movie) son who was fourteen at the time?

OK, they're nothing deep as lyrics, but the funny thing is his kid made over a million dollars for song-writing credit, while Robert got paid $70K to direct the movie. Wow.

I would find some kind of complaint about Hollywood or nepotism. But I do not know so much about specifics of the industry, just a general opinion that the music/movie relationship is broken.

Plus, I really like that song. Even though it would get stuck in my head — the song was almost impossible for me to avoid thinking of whenever I would be running with a bunch of other soldiers in fatigues up a hill. (Not that we had "incoming wounded" or were ever running towards a whirlybird, mind ye.)
